Day Of Jubilee

Aislinn the Bard

See the snow fall on the slope
So clean and sparkling bright?
I love the snow in diamond echoes
On a winter’s night.
Who are those who find the snow
A deadly winter foe?
They are the homeless people
Who have nowhere left to go.

CHORUS
And the wind it blows so cold, so cold
And the snow is falling down
And I wonder who will (shelter)
The homeless people in our town.

I like eating restaurant meals
By love and candlelight
Or dining with my husband
At home on a winter’s night
Who are those that do not understand
The way I feel?
They are the homeless people
Who must scratch for every meal.
CHORUS (feed)

I take a certain pride
In what I wear to work each day
Ah, in the business world
My clothes say all there is to say.
Who are those who make me think
These values are not fair?
They are the homeless people
Who have no new clothes to wear.
CHORUS (clothe)

I sit in church on Sunday,
And they say that God is love
I look up at the stained-glass figures
Of the angels up above.
Who are those who make me wonder
Where God is tonight?
They are the homeless people
Who must sleep in fear each night.
CHORUS (love)

I’ve a home and husband,
And I don’t know how it feels
I’ve never lacked for clothing,
I have never missed a meal
But you who’ve listened to me sing
Have helped me comprehend
The plight of homelessness
Has no serene or simple end.
Perhaps the best that I can do
Is simply be a friend.

CHORUS
And the wind it blows so cold, so cold
And the snow is falling down
Can’t we find them some enjoyment
Or maybe good employment
Can’t we even spare a minute
For the homeless in our town?
